Deterrence, according to Torah
One doesn't need media; the current week's Torah portion so timely reflects what's happening in the world. For example, if you'd like to know the Torah's recommendation for attaining and maintaining national deterrence, simply see the conclusion of this week's portion, Ekev:
If you carefully observe all this entire commandment that I command you to do, to love Hashem, your God, to walk in all his ways and to cling to Him, Hashem will drive out all these nations from before you, and you will drive out greater and stronger nations than yourselves. Every place where you set your foot will be yours, from the Wilderness [Negev - LB] to Lebanon, and from the Euphrates River to the Western Sea [Mediterranean - LB]. No man will be able to stand against you. Hashem, as He promised you, will put the terror and fear of you on the entire face of the earth, wherever you go. (Deut. 11: 22-25)
"To love Hashem... to walk in all his ways and to cling to Him," is the precondition for deterrence. The opposite causes a lack or loss of deterrence, when little Hamas 8-year old urchins aren't afraid to throw rocks at tanks.
Final Pre-Shabbat Bulletin: At this time, (3 PM Israel) the entire North from Haifa to Tzfat and Metulla, with the addition of the Northern Golan, is ender heavy rocket fire with more injuries. Heavy fighting continues in South Lebanon, with more Israeli casualties. Nasralla and the Hizbolla have certainly received encouragement and a second wind from Olmert's capitulation; Olmert has stopped the IDF from functioning, but the Hizbolla continues undeterred. May Hashem help us.

This is the CD that we've all been waiting for, the musical legacy of Rav Erez Levanon of blessed and saintly memory, who was murdered by terrorists in March, 2007.
