My good friend Dan Friedman from NYC asked me for my call on latest events here in the Middle East. With Hashem's loving grace and time permitting, I hope to show in the coming days how recent events are exactly according to prophecies. Meanwhile, while looking at events through emuna (not political!) eyes, here's what to expect in the Middle East
* No democracies will emerge from the rubble of the upheavels in the Arab countries. The secular tyrants will be replaced by Islamic rule. More specifically:
* Qaddafi's fall in Libya is a matter of days. As a secular tyrant, he beat down the Muslims. They will now emerge to unite the country under Islam.
* Expect to see a figure like Sheikh Yusuf el Qaradawi became the Islamic leader of Egypt; Egypt too will unite under Islam. Imagine the ramifications of the Muslim Brotherhood controlling the Suez Canal.
* Abdulla II's days are numbered in Jordan. It may take a little longer, but Jordan will become Islamic too.
* Today crude oil is $86/barrel; expect that price to double in the nearest future.
* Hamas will soon overthrow the corrupt PA in the West Bank; sounds like a longshot, but it's part of the scenario. Why? It will complete the noose of radical Islam that surrounds Israel's neck. But out of this fear, G-d willing, will sprout a marvelous return to Hashem and a miraculous redemption.
* What can the West look forward to? It looks like major oil shortages, skyrocketing food prices, and much more economic difficulties; remember, these factors are historically fertile ground for antisemitism in the Diaspora.
Brothers and sisters, I know things look scary over here, but I urge you to start thinking about aliya right away.

Good to hear your take on current events Rabbi. Like to the good 'ol days!

Wow...this explains the gas prices here in chicago!!!! I'm praying for u guys over there. U r our heros!!!
Aliyah sounds dreamy ....people go hungry and are impoverished in Israel also and even religious Jewish people are at odds with each other. FEAR of letting go of the imaginary control is not even considered by most humans even though our lives improve the second we live honestly and reaffirm Hashem is our king.
Oy...it's so much healthier to let Hashem lead!!! G-d bless all of you holy people. Lilah tov.

My fellow Yidden, please do not argue, even if you think you are right. When we argue, we are damaging Klal Yisrael spiritually, and bringing more tzarot(troubles) for our people.
Please read this post, about "Are We Allowed to Argue?". Thanks.

From YWN:
Government Shutdown: 12 Things That Would & Wouldn’t Happen
(Monday, February 21st, 2011)
After not being able to agree on a budget last year, Congress passed a continuing resolution to fund the government through March 4.
Here’s what would and wouldn’t be affected if Congress can’t come to an agreement by the deadline:
What would be shut down or curtailed. . .
. . .Passports
Those seeking passports or other documents would not be able to do so.
During the last shutdown, 200,000 passport applications went unprocessed. In addition, the tourism industry and airlines reportedly suffered millions of dollars in losses.

I agree with your assessment Rav Lazer, except your assessment that the Islamicists will take over Jordan and the PA. The camp of Yehdudah faced east, and the camp of Yosef faced west. Therefore Amalek will arise in the Arab world on our South-Western border and will be defeated by Mashiach ben Yosef. But the nations under Gog, who is not intrinsically from Amalek, will attack us from the east so that the more diplomatic choice of the West will remain in power on our eastern frontier. This includes Abdullah II and the PA. The division of Jerusalem and the attempt to shove a PA State down our throats will continue even after Amalek is destroyed in the world by Mashiach ben Yosef. This is why Zecharia 12 says that M. ben Yosef is killed in the battle over Jerusalem, after ben Yosef has successfully completed his mission in the world to eliminate Amalek. G-d himself will defeat Gog and the nations, and then Mashiach ben David will arise to subdue Islam for good.

I wish our brethren in the Holy Land would stop wishing bad things upon their brethren in the chutz. Do you know how many Israelis are receiving US Social Security benefits today, in order to be able to live on the base level in the Holy Land? Do you know how much the American Yidden are contributing towards the growth of Yeshivas in EY? If the American Yidden who are real estate owners of many properties in EY were to suffer, their Israeli brethren in EY will suffer too. They will probably be kicked out of their apartments/homes they are renting from the American Yidden, because the landlords will probably put up the homes for sale. Please don't wish any more bad things upon your brethren in the Chutz. We are all in this together.
