My beloved teacher and spiritual guide Rav Shalom Arush had a bigger smile on his face this
morning (image at right)than I've seen in the last few weeks. He told Rabbi Nosson Maimon and me that Israel's 36 hidden tzadikim - several of whom are in contact with Rav Shalom - got together and prayed at the Kotel, the Western Wall and remnant of our Holy Temple in Jerusalem. They succeeded in delaying the decree of imminent war before Rosh Hashana that we spoke about last week.
Amazingly also, I heard this morning from a reliable source inside the IDF that if any of our diplomats or security personnel would have been harmed this past Shabbat in Cairo, then a war would have broken out between Israel and Egypt. With that in mind, we owe Hashem a tremendous note of gratitude for the prodigious miracle of rescuing the Israeli embassy staff from the thousands of blood-thirsty rioters that broke into the Israeli Embassy in Cairo this past Friday night.
Rav Shalom says that Hashem's love for us is beyond anyone's comprehension; the delay - not cancellation - of the war decree is to enable more people to make teshuva. Just yesterday, Rebbetzen Kanievski said that outreach is the most important mitzva today - we must help others come home to Hashem immedately. People scoff at me when I keep saying there's not much time; I'll get no satisfaction from telling someone "I told you so" when he or she can no longer get on the train to redemption.
Rather than dropping our guard, we must use the next few weeks to spread emuna everywhere and to strengthen ourselves in teshuva and emuna. We all have work to do; Hashem is moving forward in His timetable and things are definitely not business as usual.
Halacha forbids conjecture about when Moshiach will come. But, Halacha also demands that we prepare ourselves for his immediate arrival. We must all do teshuva anyway before Rosh Hashana, so there's no time like the present.
Many people - particularly here in Israel - have written me that deep inside, they're hoping for an all-out war to get things over with already. I understand their feelings, but with each day, so many people are getting closer to Hashem. Let's appreciate the fact that everyone is getting another chance, for the more we come coser to Hashem, the more tremendous miracles we'll see in the coming war, which Iran, Turkey, and Hizbulla are just itching to start.

Wow! Time for some serious reflection here! Jonathan Pollard is the YONATAN that HaShem has been waiting for us to rescue, not Yonatan the security guard! It is surreal and sickening how Bibi and Co have been falling all over themselves in the media gushing with praise for Obama over the rescue of Yonatan the security guard and his fellow guards from the embassy in Cairo. They miss the point, so do we, if we think for a moment that the decree has been averted. G-d is tweaking our noses with this parody, exposing Bibi's treachery towards Yonatan Pollard and Obama's evil. Don't go breathing any sigh of relief as long as Pollard continues to rot in prison and the govt of Israel keeps burying him alive. Since January 4th, Netanyahu has done NOTHING publicly or privately to support his public call for Pollard's release made on that day. Pollard and his wife are in dire straits. Even the prayers of 36 Tzadikim cannot mitigate what is going to come down on our heads for abandoning Yonatan Pollard to the pit for the last 26 years. 26 is the one of the names of HaShem -- this is the year B"H.

The people writing into you wanting a "little" war to clear things out are very dangerous. If anyone is thinking that it doesn't matter if a few more children die in the Holy Land and immediate region at the moment because this will somehow lead to a better situation they are playing with divine fire. G-d sits in judgment in the divine court with the dead and yet to come. If the numbers of dead are increased too much the scales are tipped against the living. Every human being that ever lived at some point in their life hoped for a better world. At the end of the day that is what really drives us, not money, power or fame. The yet to come also want to be able to emerge in a safe and peaceful world. This is a not a corporate business plan situation where it is ok if some customers drop off the data base. People must rapidly, almost instantly, right now get their heads straight.
This is the year 2011/5771. Time is linear. We are meant to be going somewhere. The universe really is stable, ordered, benevolent and expansive. Violence is not innate. Everyone is being tested right now. G-d knows what is in our hearts and minds. Intention is everything. Interpersonal dynamics between people can change in an instant. Will the West Bank Palestinian waving a flag twenty metres from a settlement on the afternoon of Sep. 21st see a mirror of respect, hope and kindness in the eye of the settler from Judea and Samaria ? Or will they only see fear, hatred and enmity ? Will they each see the other as another of G-d’s children or children of a lesser god ?
The geometries are really swirling right now. The coming two weeks are crucial. Beware of self fulfilling prophecies. Sit tight everyone.
Prayer, vigilance and right action will see us through.
Prayers for the Middle East.

To Adam: 75% of the stateless Arabs that inhabit Judea and Samaria deserve no respect whatsoever. These 75% approve of intentional murder against unarmed civilians in order to achieve their political goals. Yes, 75% of them salivate when unarmedm Jews die. They have no regrets about that at all. So by definition that 75% does not deserve to be here any more. And as G-d is my witness, the day is coming when that 75% disappears from the planet very quickly. Sorry Adam, no respect for them is coming from here. If they cannot keep the basic 7 of human decency, they are gone and better off dead.
