The Beams and Emuna Outreach mourn the tragic death of USNavy Petty Officer, 2nd class, Michael Brodsky. Michael was a dog trainer who specialized in training dogs to sniff out bombs. He was on patrol in Afghanistan on July 7th, when his squad came under fire. He was quick to shield his K9 partner, Jackson, rushing him to a nearby truck; when he returned to the firefight to help his buddies, he stepped on a roadside bomb, what we call a mit'an tzad in Hebrew. He was badly injured, losing both legs. Ultimately, he died in a US Medical Center in Germany on July 21. We just received the bitter news from our good friend Captain Ephraim Travis, USArmy Chaplain in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Michael was 33, and a native of Pensacola, Florida. He died the death of a hero in the sanctification of Hashem's Holy Name. May his blessed memory intercede in Heaven in our behalf.
The Beams and Emuna Outreach send our deepest condolences to Michael's parents, Steven and Debra, and to their whole family.
Prayers for Michael Brodsky.
The good men and women of ISAF deserve our blessings.
