Breslev Israel's Black Friday - Chanuka Sale Madness

I don't know what happened to my dear friend and brother, Breslev Israel's General Director Yosef Nechama - he's gone bananas with an insane Chanuka-Black Friday sale, and he's selling all my books and music CDs for 60% until midnight Sunday night - check this out before he changes his mind!

Here're a few thoughts on this week's Torah portion: Happy Chanuka and Shabbat Shalom!

The Cantonist's Scars

The Cantonist

The period of the Cantonists, when preteen Jewish boys were ripped away from their homes in Czarist Russia and forced into the army for a period that exceeded 25 years, was one of the most tragic in Jewish history. Rebbe Nachman and Rebbe Natan ripped the Heavens open with their prayers to rescind this harsh decree.

I want to share a poignant story about the Chofetz Chaim's encounter with a Cantonist; would you believe that we still have Cantonists among us today? Read all about it in my feature article, The Cantonist's Scars, in this week's Chanuka issue of Breslev Israel web magazine.

See Rav Shalom Arush's Chanuka message in The Fortress.

Chanuka begins this coming Wednesday night, when we light the first candle. As such, there won't be a live emuna broadcast in Jerusalem this Wednesday evening.

This week's Torah portion is Miketz. Have a wonderful week!

Kerry for Kerry

וַהֲלַכְתֶּם עִמִּי, קֶרִי. .. וְהָלַכְתִּי אַף-אֲנִי עִמָּכֶם, בְּקֶרִי

"If you walk in a sinister manner with Me, then I shall walk in a sinister manner with you" (Leviticus 26: 23-24).

Hashem tells us in the above passage, as He says in many other places in the Torah, that He runs the world - and especially Israel and the Jewish People - on a measure-for-measure basis.

The word in Hebrew for sinister is kerry - it also means rebellious or spiritually impure.

The prophecy in the above passage is amazing - let's now translate it with its alternative definitions:

"If you walk in a rebellious manner with Me, then I shall walk with Kerry toward you."

US Secretary of State Kerry has now become this generation's Neville Chamberlain by caving into Iran. The USA's appeasement of the Ayatolla's, as manifest in the agreement signed yesterday is ever so remindful of the UK's appeasement of Hitler in 1938.

Yet, who made the deal with Iran? Kerry? No! Hashem made the deal, for everything comes from Him, as the Rambam reiterates in the first of our Thirteen Principles of Faith.

The current Israeli Government has become the most vehemently anti-Torah government in modern Israel's 65-year history; without a doubt, the coalition has been walking in a rebellious and impure (kerry in Hebrew) manner with Hashem. So measure-for-measure, they received Kerry in return, along with his ridiculous agreement that enables Iran to continue with its nuclear program, as well as his demands for unilateral concessions to the Palestinians. The Israeli Government gave Hashem kerry, and Kerry in return.

It's high time for all of us to wake up.

The Height of Hypocrisy

Tonight marks the 28th anniversary of Jonathan Pollard's incarceration. 1395278_10151710442341781_771179695_n

With recent revelations of The USA's own spying on its allies in Europe, its failure to free Pollard is a new height of hypocrisy. What's more, the USA demands that we release terrorists with gallons of Jewish blood on their hands. Yet, they continue to incarcerate Jonathan.

Do you know what his "sin" was? He told Israel that America was selling nasty weapons to Israel's enemies...

This is history's grossest act of injustice since Dreyfus. David Zwiebel writes, "First, Pollard did not stand trial for his crime. Rather, he received his life sentence after entering into a plea-bargain agreement in which the government promised not to seek a life sentence. Entering into that agreement, Pollard relinquished his right to a trial, cooperated with government investigators, pleaded guilty -- all, presumably, with the expectation that some leniency would be shown in his sentence. The expectation was reasonable, but it proved illusory. Secondly, Pollard was sentenced to life in prison despite the fact that he was never accused of delivering classified information to an enemy of the United States. Rather, he was accused of delivering such information to Israel, a close and staunch American ally. There may be no other case of a life sentence imposed for spying on behalf of a strategic ally."

Jonathan, we are with you and we never forget you for a moment  - that's a solemn promise.

America, for your own benefit, let our people go.
