I don't understand it. Why HaShem took something away from them because of how they were feeling? I understand that they need to apologize and move on and be happy but why get consequences for their feelings? When a friend or child is sad, we acknowledge that and talk about it and try to make them feel better, not punish them for feeling that way. I don't get it.
