Hurricane Partying

Hurricane Party
A few hearty souls in southern USA were scoffing at the storm. "We've got the grill," Chris Mauney from coastal Georgia said from a rocking chair on his front porch. "We're going to have a hurricane party."

We have to admit - Chris and his buddies certainly have the gusto. But, could they be missing the message that Irma brings with her?

My esteemed and beloved rabbi, teacher and spiritual guide Rav Shalom Arush says that in this final week-and-a-half of Elul before Rosh Hashana, a person should be engaging in serious self-assessment. What are we doing on earth? What's it all for? Why is life so difficult? Why all of these hopes and aspirations if everyone's fate is the cemetery?

Despite the hurricanes in the USA, the tensions on our borders over here in Israel and everything else going on in the crazy world right now, life doesn't have to be so bleak. Although we don't recommend hurricane parties, life can nonetheless have a sweet taste to it. Read what Rav Arush says about The Taste for Life in this week's brand new issue of Breslev Israel web magazine.

Did you realize that the tzaddikim had a tremendous influence on the Napoleonic War with Russia? See The War of the Rebbes, my feature article this week.
