This morning, unidentified warplanes attacked a Syrian chemical weapons development facility in Masyaf, in Hama Province. Although it is not clear how much damage has been done, the facility has been neutralized.
According to Rami Abdurrahman, who heads the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, two facilities were hit - a scientific research center and a nearby military base where short-range surface-to-surface missiles are stored.
As you read on Lazer Beams and Emuna News 2 weeks ago, our intel sources were well aware that the "research center" was a factory for doomsday weapons and the "missile-storage base" was a cener for manufacturing missiles that were meant for Hezbulla's use against Israel.
Syria is accusing Israel of the pre-dawn attack and so far, the IDF has not confirmed or denied the report.
Michael Horowitz, Director of Intelligence at Prime Source, a Middle East-based geopolitical consultancy firm, told The Jerusalem Post that this Israeli strike is significant due to its location which is close to both a Russian air defense base as well a suspected Iranian missile production facility.
Reuters quotes Amos Yadlin, a former head of Israeli military intelligence, who said, “The factory that was targeted in Masyaf produces the chemical weapons and barrel bombs that have killed thousands of Syrian civilians.”
In any event, this was a daring strike and it brings Iran-Syrian-Hizbulla vs. Israel tension up a considerable ratchet. This is further manifestation of the Midrash's prophecy that (Yalkut Shimoni, Isaiah, 60:499), "In the year in which the Messiah-King appears, all the nations of the world are provoking each other."
