Obama and Aliya

Aliya_obama_2  Not only does Hashem do everything for the very best, but Hashem has a fantastic sense of humor.

For example, Haman did more to advance the Teshuva movement among the Jewish people worldwide than any rabbi ever did. Every day in purgatory, Haman is showed how he brought so many Jews closer to Hashem - this for him is the supreme torture.

Hashem continues to laugh. Since Aliya from America is the lowest it has been in years, Hashem has made a presidential candidate out of a slick-tongued freshman senator with no experience that rubs shoulders with a bunch of major-league Jewhaters like General Tony McPeak and Preacher Jeremiah Wright. Obie and his cronies are doing more to encourage Aliya than the Jewish Agency and the Israeli Absorption Ministry combined.

It doesn't matter who you vote for. All the politicians are funny little puppets with Hashem pulling the strings.

Beware of Manitoba Doctors

Suicide_docs_big Samuel Golubchuck wants to live. Manitoba's doctors, adopting a social Darwinist outlook, say that he doesn't deserve to. The case is now in a Winnipeg court.

Rebbe Nachman warned us repeatedly about such messengers of the Angel of Death:  On January 30, Manitoba's College of Physicians and Surgeons released new guidelines that became effective February 1. They state that the final decision to pull the plug on a patient lies with the physician. We condemn this arrogant attitude, where Manitoba's physicians hold themselves higher than G-d, Heaven forbid.

Winnipeggers, we suggest that you keep your loved ones out of hospitals. If there's no choice, make sure someone from the family is with the patient around the clock. Where there's no fear of Hashem, there's no morality. Where there's no morality, there's murder. Pulling the plug of life support is murder, period.

Separate-Sex Transportation

Many countries are now initiating separate sex transportation. Mexico City has started a women-only bus service to protect female passengers from groping and verbal abuse common on the city's packed public transportation system.

Women in India's financial capital, Mumbai (Bombay), now have the option of travelling in taxis equipped and run specially for them. London also has joined suit.

In Israel, separate-seating "Mehadrin" busses operate in the Haredi areas of Tzfat, Ashdod, Bet Shemesh, Jerusalem, and Bnai Brak.

Will you survive?

Will you survive the assimilation holocaust?

Bin Ladin, Achmedinejad, the Hamas and the Hizbolla don't make me lose a moment of sleep at night; assimilation does. A holocaust of Hellenism is going on right under our noses. Assimilation is killing far more Jews than disease, terror, and war put together.

In continuation of the above video clip, look at the following table, courtesy of the wonderful people at Simple to Remember.com, which sums up the relationship between Jewish affiliation, intermarriage, and the future of our people. Study it for a moment, for it's an eye-opener. It also gives you a good idea about whether your grandchildren will be Jewish or not. You can read more about intermarriage here.

You can hear a superb audio explanation of the above table here.

Kislev, the month of Chanuka when we celebrate Judaism's victory over the contaminating influences of Hellenism, is a wonderful time to strengthen Jewish identity. Don't let your children be jealous of their non-Jewish neighbors; teach them their own beautiful heritage. Chanuka is Jewish International Anti-assimilation Week.

Jews plant trees: We don't chop them down, and we certainly don't put them in our homes. Let's let the bright lights of the Chanuka candles illuminate our homes and our souls. The light of Chanuka chases away the darkness of assimilation.

People ask why there wasn't enough screaming and yelling in the world when 6 million Jews died in the Nazi holocaust. Do you realize that 2 million Jews have perished in assimilation in the last 30 years alone? That means that over 1200 Jewish souls vanish weekly. The numbers unfortunately are growing. It's time that we all start yelling. G-d willing, you'll hear me raising the subject with Tamar Yonah later today (Sunday) on Israel National Radio, 3:15 PM Israel, 8:15 AM EST.

Pictorial Essay: Yanov, a world that was

During the first 9 days of the Hebrew month of Av, we especially mourn for the destruction of our Holy Temple and our exile. Rebbe Nachman of Breslev says that anywhere Jews live and serve Hashem is holy land as well. As such, this is also the proper time to lament over the Jewish communities around the world that were destroyed. When in the Ukraine recently, I returned to the hometown of my paternal grandfather, Yanov. Half of Yanov's Jews were killed in the pogroms of 1903-1909. My grandfather left the Ukraine for Canada in 1907. The remaining Jews - including many of our cousins - were wiped out by the Nazis in 1942 and are buried in two communal graves of 1000 (Jews of Yanov proper) and 2500 (Jews transported from other areas). There's barely a place in the Ukraine where one can walk without stepping on Jewish blood.

Photo 6 - We won! My Chabad friends say, "Didan Notzach." In other words, evil did not succeed in finishing us off. On the contrary, North American assimilation murdered many of my relatives' souls even after they escaped from the Cossacks and from Hitler. Yet, despite it all, here we are back in Yanov, wiping away the break of two generations that slid away from Yiddishkeit, looking, dressing, and acting just like my great grandfather Chatzkel, a Breslover chossid and descendant of Rebbe Itzikel Drovitcher zatza'l. We are certainly the winners, and we shall continue to overcome, by clinging to our unwavering emuna, amen.

The Mass Graves of Yanov

With Hashem's loving grace, my wife, my daughter, and I are safely home in Ashdod after a meaningful, tremendously satisfying, and exhausting trip to the Ukraine, which included 1500 kilometers on the road within the Ukraine.

Tuesday, 3 July is the 17th day of Tammuz, an infamous day of calamity in the Jewish calendar that signifies the beginning of the 3-week period that culminates on Tisha B'Av, the notorious day when both Holy Temples in Jerusalem were destroyed. It's no small coincidence that last year's tragic Lebanon War also began on the 17th of Tammuz.

One of the purposes of my trip was attend to the upkeep of the old Jewish cemetary in Yanov, where many of my ancestors are buried. Yanov is a small town, or "shtetyl", that was established in the year 1552, located halfway between Breslov and Berditchev in the central Ukraine. A few famous tzaddikim hail from Yanov, as well as my father's family. About 8 years ago, I began a campaign to save the Jewish cemetary there; two-thirds of it had already become squash and potato fields, ripped off by the locals. With Hashem's help, we succeeded in saving what was left.

Old_yanov_cemetary

In addition, we also established a monument on 2 mass graves from the holocaust.

Mass_grave_yanov_cemetary

One of the mass graves, within the bounds of the Yanov cemetary, contains the remains of Yanov's 1,000 Jews. The other mass grave, on the outskirts of town near the railroad crossing, contains the remains of 2,500 Jews that were being deported from other towns. The Nazis stopped the train, let the Jews dig an enormous pit (their own graves), and then shot them all.

Mass_grave_yanov

Foreground, Yanov train crossing. Background, within the white masonry walls, is a giant mass grave where 2500 Jews dug a huge pit before being shot in the head by the Nazis.

The Nazis could have never completed their task without the cooperation of the locals. To this day, antisemitism is deeply rooted in the hearts of the Ukrainians.

Yanov_xroads_mass_grave

A closer view of the mass pit area. The Ukrainian government tried to steal the show by erecting elaborate monuments of their own, which say in Russian, "Here lie Ukrainian victims of Fascist terror, 1942", with no mention of Jews at all. The Ukrainians are also responsible for the wreaths. Orthodox Jews do not put flowers or wreaths on graves.

The ugliest phenomenon I know is intramural Jewish hate. So many Jews allow themselves the luxury of hating other Jews that don't look and think like they do. I'd like to organize a trip for the haters to come see the mass graves of Jews in the Ukraine; maybe after seeing what other nations did (and still want to do) to us, our misguided brothers and sisters won't allow themselves the luxury of hating each other.

The bad news is that as long as there's no Jewish unity, we can expect many more years of 17 Tammuz and Tisha B'Av headaches. The good news is that if we start acting like loving brothers and sisters to each other, 17 Tammuz and 9 Av will become happy festivals, celebrated in the courtyard of our rebuilt Holy Temple in Jerusalem, amen.

Operation Rachamim

Today's Beams Lexicon definition of courage: "Being 10 years old, living in the USA, a Baal Tshuva by your own choice, and fearlessly demanding to have the circumcision you never had as a baby." Yes, there really is such a hero; his name is Rachamim Cruz, and he lives in Pennsylvania. Here's a letter from his mother, and Rachamim's story in pictures.

Shalom Rabbi Lazer,

My son Rachamim wanted to share with you his big Mitzva. We are in the process of returning to Hashem. Rachamim, who didn't have a brit when he was a baby because of our lack of awareness back then, wanted me to take pictures of his journey; he says he feels complete now that he has been circumsized. It was a big deal for him to have me take pics to send to you. So, enclosed in attachments are his pics. He is so excited because he says that this mitzva will be him closer to making aliyah and he cant wait to go home to Eretz Israel. He is hoping to meet you when he finally does get there. Thank You because I don't think he would have made it through as well as he did had he not known that you were going to know about it and that he has made you proud of him. Baruch Hashem I have been blessed with such a little tzaddik.

Many Blessings and Peace, Leah Cruz

You can better believe that I'm proud of Rachamim! Aren't you? See for "Operation Rachamim" for yourself:

No more tears - soon, G-d willing!

Jerusalem Week continues full-force here at the Beams, to do our part in keeping the struggle for the sanctity and Jewish sovereignty of Yerushalayim in the forefront of the public eye...

Dear Rabbi Brody,

I'm a proud Noahide and a lover of Jerusalem from faraway south-east Alabama. Although I was moved by your Alabama posts, I'm triply inspired by your dedication to the Holy City and by the beautiful posts and film clips you've been sharing this week. I'm not your only admirer: A very interesting and sharp-witted site by the name of themessagereport.com has a great photo-shop editorial about your war for Jerusalem -  he pictures 2 Lazer Beams blowing up the Arab's golden dome. See for yourself . He has another really funny photo of a terrorist dude on a flying carpet that hits the wrong target, in this photo cartoon . The result is what we all hope for soon, to see foreign evil chased off the Temple Mount and the true Kingdom of Hashem established on earth. I became a Noahide committed to the eternal truth of Torah in order to have a small share in the Redemption. Rabbi, in the name of people like myself that have discarded lies and search for truth, despite the fact that we oftentimes have no one to turn to since we're chastised by our former co-religionists but not accepted by many Jews, I thank you for your open arms and open heart to all of us. The Jewish people should be proud to have such dedicated sons as you. With utmost respect, James M., Dothan, Alabama

Away_with_the_dome all images in today's post reprinted courtesy of http://themessagereport.com , with a tip of the hat to James M from sweet ol' Alabama.

Thank you for your kind thoughts, James. The Noahides will enjoy a wonderful share of Redemption and of the world to come.

******

Hashem's Divine Providence is mindboggling. Just this morning, I received an email from a close friend in Georgia asking if, during the course of Jerusalem Week here at the Beams, I wouldn't mind mentioning the sore in our midst, the Moslem presence atop the Temple Mount.

Even many devout Jews erroneously associate Har Habayis (The Temple Mount) with the golden dome as if the dome were holy. In truth, we should be deeply saddened and even digusted every time we see that dome, for it represents the continuation of exile, Diaspora, and the forces of evil which are parasites that try to rob the spiritual abundance (shefa) of Israel's holiness. May Hashem rid the Temple Mount of the unholy dome and replace it with the purity of the rebuilt Temple, the Bais Hamikdash with the holy Menorah Burning ever so brightly soon, amen.

So you ask, what's Hashem waiting for? He's waiting for all of us to throw away our silly chases after the lusts and follies of this world, and to come home to Him in real Tshuva. Until then, as He waits, Hashem sheds two gigantic tears every night at Midnight (see Gemorra tractate Berachot 59a); ask any sailor about the inexplicable waves that rock the ships at sea for a few seconds every night at midnight. My esteemed friend and one of the world's most talented and most-loved Chassidic musicians, Avraham Fried, sings about Hashem's tears in a gorgeous clip of his song called Father Don't Cry. I have no doubt that seeing and hearing this clip will be one of the highlights of your week. If you can see and hear this without getting chills up your spine and tears in your eyes, you had better schedule an urgent EKG. Thank you so much, Reb Avraham - we all wish you continued success, and hope that you'll soon be singing in the Beis HaMikdash.

My heart tells me that we'll all be hand-in-hand on the way to the Temple Mount soon, to greet Moshiach. Don't let the saber-rattlers scare you - everything Hashem is doing is all for our very best. That's a solemn guarantee from your buddy Lazer.

The Sky's aglow in 'Bama

Desoto_falls_by_bamawester DeSoto Falls, Alabama - The sky glows with emuna. Photo by BamaWester, courtesy of fotothing.com

'Bama has monopolized the Beams this week, and rightfully so. We've never had such a warm response from so many wonderful people as the reaction to our recent posts about Alabama from spiritually-thirsty Noahides and BTs that are looking for each other. I'll pass the microphone to them:

Sabra Jones from Mobile Bay writes: "Sweet Home Alabama... Many believers are being drawn to Israel's eternal truths in the Torah. We are beginning to see God's plans for our state unfolding..... ALABAMA will be creating a wave of a divine renewed interest and love in the land of Israel. Alabama will be a light to the rest of the world. Down here near Mobile Bay, in Fairhope, we as Believers are called  "for such a time as this" and appointed by the God of Israel to start a network "mobilizing" (from the Mobile Bay and throughout the state) those who will stand with Israel!! To strengthen the bonds and kinships between believers and Jews, we must first educate with true Jewish history and come against the biased world media. I believe we can affect the world starting in the Bible Belt. (where else??) My partner in this endeavor is Melaine Matson, and we have chosen the name, 'Magnolias and Menorahs'!!!"

Ellen M. from Montgomery writes: "I have to share a praise G-d report with you!  It has been a little over 2 years since I turned back to HaShem and began to learn Torah.  He has (and still is) teaching us a Torah-observant lifestyle and we learn more and more every day (thank YOU for helping with your website materials and wonderful books!)."

Marilyn from Mobile writes:  "Dear Rabbi, I too am from Alabama and have been teaching Torah here for nearly 2 1/2 yrs. I was uprooted from Mississippi after Katrina and sent me to wonderful Alabama. It is difficult to break through the traditional Christian doctrine that is so strong here but the Ruah Kodesh is working overtime to bring people into the Hebrew roots of their faith. Praise Hashem, I am priviliged to be one to help that cause. I live on the Northwest side of Mobile and the people here are so sweet and friendly. A wonderful place to live. Hashem has great plans for this area. The Bay of the Holy Spirit is a name for this area and so well named! Watch things happen here and if possible, we'd love for you to come to see for yourself!"

Sandy C. from Central Alabama writes: " I found your site today and couldn't keep the tears back.  I am so excited to hear that Alabama has so many coming to the knowledge of Emunah.  But, I do have a question.  Where is everyone?  We thought we were all alone.  The Chabad Rabbi told us that he only knew of one couple in Alabama, other than us.  We are in central Alabama.  I can't find any contact info for any other B'nai Noach here in Alabama.  We would love to be able to get to know others who love Hashem like we do.  We live 70+ miles from the nearest Orthodox Shul and love going there, but it is too far to go very often.  We were hoping you could help us find the like minded folks that supposedly live near us, here.  I'm pretty sure if we got a good enough sized group, we could get a Rabbi to come and teach (maybe once a month) so we can learn from Hashems chosen ones.  How exciting that would be!"

*******

Get the picture?

Meanwhile, with the blessings of technology, the Beams has been connecting folks in 'Bama with each other. Let's hope that their emuna and fervor light the fires of faith all over the place. If the folks in Alabama knew one iota of the joy and gratification they're bringing to Hashem, they'd be singing and dancing all day long. G-d bless you all.
